Transparent bar tape

Well, my 8 moth old lab had developed taste to my bike ;) Particularly to the bar tape. So, it's time to the new one and I decided to try clear Bontrager tape. I like how it looks on carbon bars. Opinions?

Sick, had no idea that existed until now.

Does it still feel like normal tape? It looks like it would feel like plastic.

It's a bit pain to install it, true. Since this tape is not adhesive at all, but it's not impossible :)

BTW, this is The Troublemaker AKA NICO

Feels like any other synthetic tape, not too grippy, kind of like fizik bar tape.

And one more aspect why I like this tape - damn easy to clean :)

What is that material? It looks like it could be slippery when wet

BLR_0719 09-29-10 03:18 PM

never mind

JonnyV 09-29-10 03:22 PM

That looks great! Nice job!

redtires 09-29-10 03:24 PM

Kinda looks like you wrapped your bar in packing tape....IMHO. It is definitely different though!

Jeepnut22 09-29-10 03:27 PM

Looks good on your application. Would look like crap on mine...

Aurelius 09-29-10 03:30 PM

Looks like you pulled a ribbed condom up each side.
Or yeah, packing tape. Not my cuppa.

You asked.

I think it looks silly. You don't need to wrap the K-wings that far.

I've had wrapped like that before. Up until one hot day and one step hill when my left hand slept off the handlebar. Actually, that was the point of using clear tape - you can wrap is all the way and keep nice look and have a decent grip while riding on the tops.

its like transparent aluminum from star trek.....also the guy building up his bianchi should use this tape

Do you ride with gloves? In two years, I've never had an issue like that with the K-wings.

It looks like packaging tape.

Velo Vol 09-29-10 04:01 PM

Nice bike.

Terex 09-29-10 04:13 PM

Clear is the new white!

I can see it now (or not...) - clear brifter hoods, clear saddles, clear jerseys, clear...

I'm sticking with colored tape. :thumb:
