Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Transparent bar tape

Well, my 8 moth old lab had developed taste to my bike Particularly to the bar tape. So, it's time to the new one and I decided to try clear Bontrager tape. I like how it looks on carbon bars. Opinions?

Sick, had no idea that existed until now.

Does it still feel like normal tape? It looks like it would feel like plastic.

It's a bit pain to install it, true. Since this tape is not adhesive at all, but it's not impossible

BTW, this is The Troublemaker AKA NICO

Feels like any other synthetic tape, not too grippy, kind of like fizik bar tape.

And one more aspect why I like this tape - damn easy to clean

What is that material? It looks like it could be slippery when wet

Kinda looks like you wrapped your bar in packing tape....IMHO. It is definitely different though!

Looks like you pulled a ribbed condom up each side.
Or yeah, packing tape. Not my cuppa.

I think it looks silly. You don't need to wrap the K-wings that far.

I've had wrapped like that before. Up until one hot day and one step hill when my left hand slept off the handlebar. Actually, that was the point of using clear tape - you can wrap is all the way and keep nice look and have a decent grip while riding on the tops.

Do you ride with gloves? In two years, I've never had an issue like that with the K-wings.

Clear is the new white!

I can see it now (or not...) - clear brifter hoods, clear saddles, clear jerseys, clear...

I'm sticking with colored tape.

Hey just curious what do you use to protect the head tube from the cable housing rub? It looks like little clear stickers with a red dot? Is that a hardware store purchase... or?
