Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I personally dislike the look of bars like that...but carbon is always nice and if it's your cup of tea, have a great time with them! On bike pics are always mandatory; I might have a change of heart.

I personally like these bars, i think they look and feel killer, as in good, not as in killer you're gonna kill yourself.

How do you know all the angles will be to your liking? Seems like with a new bike you could spend days or weeks adjusting stem angle, length, and the rotation of the handlebar in the stem. With the fully integrated solution, can any adjustments be made? Seems like stem angle could be adjusted if they used a shim like specialized does, but I'm doubting it has that.

They are really stiff if that is what you are looking for, but the actual weight of the PRO Stealth combo is slightly over 405grams (I weighed them myself) with a 110mm stem length. A good set of aluminum bars and aluminum stem can come in well under 400grams. They are really nice looking and like I said stiff. Enjoy.

Those "are" aluminum.

I know. I had a set.

And yeah, they are gorgeous.

I would have spent the $168+ shipping on something important, like beer. My aluminum bars weigh damn close to that, and they came with the bike, for free.

My frame & group came free with my bars. The bars cost a fortune though.

I guess everything on the bike was free then? I'm guessing you really overpaid for the frame then.

The pair I had in my shop were a 110/44 so quite a bit bigger. I am surprised it was over 50 grams lighter in the smaller size though. Goes to show that the layup day by day can probably change and drastically change the weight as well.

I just put on a Zipp SL bar 42cm and aluminum Ritchey stem 110mm combo for a customer and it weighed in at a stunning 286 grams!!!!

Good luck with the new bar and stem. They should really bling up the bike!

Serious question....what is the point of wrapping aluminum in carbon? Cosmetics?
( my seat post is carbon wrapped...looks pretty but rides like aluminum!)

Bikes: Trek

the marketing tells us that they can use a thinner or less amount of aluminum if its wrapped in carbon fiber so that it can be lighter and stronger than if it was all aluminum, yet less expensive than if it was all carbon.

i have no opinion or data to support or refute these claims

From what I can tell, the stem clamp is aluminum and the bar portion is carbon alone. The transition is about half way along the stem. This is just a personal observation and may be wrong but that's how it looks/feels/sounds to me.

Hi A,

Read the box.
It tells you it's aluminum wrapped in carbon.
Again, I had that bar.

I'm not disagreeing. Box says Monocoque Carbon - Alloy Construction
Have them mounted. YOWZERS they're nice!. Pictures up after I re-cable and wrap. Saved a 110 grams over my old set-up too. Bonus.

Here's some new Pics

Man, I have to wash that garage door...it almost looks beige.
Anyway, I couldn't be happier. Short ride confirms the fit being spot on...so far. I already made a riding buddy green too. Now he doesn't want to buy my Easton EA30 Wings though.
