Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help on purchasing a new bike ($3,000

I was wanting to know your thoughts on these three bikes: 2011 Cannondale Supersix 3 Ultegra, 2011 Trek Madone 5.2, and 2011 Giant TCR Advance 1. I'll be sure to test ride all three out before making a decision, but I just wanted to hear if you all enjoy/dislike any of these bikes/companies.
Thanks!

Love my TCR Advanced SL.... pretty much the same as the Advanced but just a little lighter frame. One stiff mother in the BB and Head Tube. Did I say I love it

PS... I picked it up for just under 3K. Look around for 2010 leftover stock and see what comes up.

Awesome! I hear a lot of good things about Giant, just never have tested one out before. How long have you had yours? Do you feel Giant cares for their customers?
Thanks again for your help!

My 2004 I had for years.. My 2010 I've only had approx 3 weeks or so. Never needed to use Giants Warranty service so can't say. I guess I liked my first Giant enough to purchase a second.

I think you really need to explain what was so horrible about your last experience.... Since I really have only heard good things about Specialized as well.

Yeah usually for a first post you'll want to post about how great your BikesDirect bike is and how much money you saved.

Wow not a bad deal! I just picked up a 2011 TCR Advanced 1 for 2500 + tax and I thought I got a great deal.

I am wondering why it took 2 Specialized Tarmacs before you decided that you hated them. Giants are great bikes and so are Cannondales...just be careful and not take 2 of each before deciding you hate them.

You're right. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on Specialized.

It took me two Tarmacs because Specialized admitted after many months of frustration, that my bike was a lemon. So they sent me a 2011 to replace the 2010. The 2011 doesn't work either...and Specialized is saying tough luck. I didn't own either Tarmac for more than a week and the bikes were already having severe mechanical issues.

Pedal Force RS2 w/ SRAM (2010) Force, Dura-Ace/Mavic wheels and a Token white Carbon Fiber handle bar w/ Ritchey wet white WCS stem and SP. One awesome and satisfying ride on the cheap.
O yeah and Shimano DA pedals w/ their mold-a-matic shoes.

Like what. Mechanical problems sounds like a bad setup from your LBS. I'd be upset with the LBS, not Specialized. Everybody knows that Specialized bikes are more awesome :-)

Sorry that last post was not intended. SRAM, Specailized, and my LBS all looked at the bike. It has literally been shipped around the country, while I sat here without a bike. None of the places could understand/explain why my bike was dropping and bending chains.

If the experts can't fix it, then I'm guessing it can't be fixed. Either way, I don't care about that bike, my focus now is getting a new bike so I can get back to my training.
