They would be a good choice for race-only wheels. But for overall riding the conti's are favored.

I have never ridden them, so take this with a grain of salt, but the word on the street is the PR3's are a bit better handling than the conti's (i.e. stickier) but are much more flat prone and wear faster.
They would be a good choice for race-only wheels. But for overall riding the conti's are favored.

I guess I have to try the GP4000s since everyone vouches for them. I must say that I was very disappointed in the Gatorskins that everyone raves about. But I'll make up my own mind as to the GP4000s.

Ideally on sale from PBK you can sometimes get them for approx 30-35 bucks each.

I had the PR3s (not 2's, don't think you can still get them) on my main bike until a few months back when I switched to GP4000S. I prefer the handling and feel of the PR3s but have had a worse run with flats. The PR3s do attract a lot of small cuts but mostly you can ignore them.

For What It's Worth...having ridden all three of your choices, I prefer the PR3 over the other two, but only slightly, as I feel the ride and grip are better, but not by much. I don't find the PR3 to be more flat prone, but some folks have. I think it depends on riding/road conditions.
