Why do you ride?
#52
I started riding at 340 lbs. to lose weight. In the very beginning, I hated every second of it.. coming home worn out from one or two miles, the leg cramps, the people laughing at me as I would pass (or as they would pass me), and teh obnoxious guys in the bike shop who treated me like a complete idiot. Now, I love every second of it. I love watching groups of girls stare and turn their heads as I pass, blowing by other roadies in their full team kits, coming in third in my last crit, and pulling the very front of group rides at 25-30 mph. I know I shouldn't be so cocky, but cycling has given me a lot in return for everything I have put into it.

Why do i ride...
I ride to get away from it all, for 2 - 3 hours I am free. I can go as fast as I want, I can go as slow as I want, I can forget about the world or I can embrase the world. I can forget about all the school work and troubles at work and at home, I can ride as fast as I can and not get in trouble, I can race through city streets legally and when done not end up in the back of a black and white. I can enjoy life and enjoy the socializing with other riders. I can wear clothing that some would deem unwearable in other contexts and I can tell the world I can care less what they think. Finally I can become one with the machiene, push myself to the limit and come back tomarrow and do it all over again.
Riding is to be free...
Hope you all enjoy the ride...

My head tells me I ride for many reasons, but my heart knows the truth!
