Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks good. I really liked the Kestrel, though.

good choice, that may not be the lightest bike on the block, but colnago makes an excellent machine, you'll enjoy it. i had a chance to ride one for a bit, and it was very nice.

shame about the sram though.

Congrats on the soon-to-arrive CX-1. It's a mighty fine ride and when I was deciding on a new frameset last year it was between the CX-1 and a Cervelo R3. The R3 is a bit snappier when ascending, but both frames are very comparable. Some purists underrate the CX-1 because it's not manufactured in Italy, but if they were to throw a leg over the bike and ride it I'm sure they'd change their mind. BTW, Colnago is notorious for mis-representing their frame weights.

Awesome looking bike. Can't wait to hear how it rides.

colnagos are so pretty they should be kept in a museum and not let out onto roads.

Nothing to be sorry about. That's a great functioning setup. I will nice to see a new 'Nago ridden by a capable rider, too. It seems like nobody actually rides Italian bikes anymore.

Is the CX-1 Italian? Of course it's an Italian company but I was under the impression that the CX-1 is a made Taiwanese frame.
And I for one am SOOOOOO over Campy. Rode it for 20 years from Super Record to Record 10 speed. I have Dura Ace 7900 now and it is fantastic.

Unfortunately the CX-1 isn't made in Italy.

I just called WrenchScience to check on my frame, it was supposed to be shipped on Friday and delivered today. I had never received a tracking number so I wanted to get it to see if I needed to leave work early.

Well, come to find out it hasn't been shipped yet. For some reason they didn't have a ship to address and nobody called to ask me for it. It's not a big deal but it is slightly annoying. Anyway, my frameset is shipping today.

Thanks for the advice, but I think I will stick to SRAM since I can't stand Shimano.

I'm loving it on my current bike so I'll probably keep it.

Hmmmm, guess I'll have to go frame shopping again in a few months. Darn, I hate that.

Unfortunately I will have one for a while as well. I'm doing my best to slim down but it's going to take some time.

IMG_2290..jpgIMG_2294..jpgIMG_2297..jpg

i just built this cx-1 up for a friend of mine a couple months ago. i think you will be very impressed with the performance of the frame. it does everything very well from climbing to sprinting and is even comfortable for long distance rides. a lot of the ride characteristics will depend on the wheelset and components you choose, but the frame is plenty stiff and will mate well with any of the top end groupsets. although it will look best with campy!

as mentioned, they tend to be on the heavier side, at least more so than advertised. the build above came out to about 16.5lbs on a 50s frame, weight penalty for record 11 kicking in as well.

i hope you got a good deal at wreath. i picked up the '09 frame at R&A for 2.5k and i think they had '10 ones for 2.8k. as far as i researched, no difference other than paint schemes from the 09 onwards.

let me know if you have any specific questions about the frame as i know it like the back of my hand after putting it together and logging a bit of miles on it. enjoy.
