Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

S*it happens, lesson learned. Get your fit dialed in and enjoy the bike.

If it doesn't work, it will be a very expensive lesson.

I have a relatively long torso and people keep saying my frame is the wrong size because I don't have much seat post, it just means short legs relative to my horizontal top tube.
The main determining factors in seat post set back are the length of your quads, pedal stroke, and to some degree, preferred position. pedal stroke and position can vary somewhat based the body's geometry and the rider's strengths. Two riders with the same leg dimensions could find their optimal stroke at a different fore/aft position due to riding style, strengths, torso angle, etc.

Even without knowing what you look like on that bike, I think it is a fair bet that you don't need nearly as much setback as the bike's setup dictates. It is pretty common to think that your saddle isn't back far enough when you ride a new build. Fit is often counter intuitive. If you are feeling like you are too far forward, often you are actually too far back, or your saddle is too low, or both. Sometimes you might feel like you are hovering just over the front wheel. The bike feels like you are going to go over the bars, and you find yourself braking excessively. If your saddle is too far back, pitched downward, or too low, you lose some of the positive control over your bike's handling. Because the bike is best steered with your hips, the connection of your hips and feet to the bike is crucial.

Seeing all you bike weenies talk about fit without seeing a person on the bike is ridiculous...

That said, the setup of the OP's bike looks ridiculous...

It's a blast from the past. My dream bike when I was 9 years old. I had one like that. They stole it from out front of the bowling alley in Fort Lee, NJ.

I think I actually prefer the original look with the black instead of the red. But still very nice.
