Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fizik Arione quick review

well,
i bought a Fizik Arione today.
it was between San Marco Era Luxe and the Fizik Arione. The biggest difference that was noticeable was padding. the San Marco felt pretty "luxurious" as the name would suggest, and plush. the contours felt pretty good with my butt/behind the thigh area. The only problem was, due to my body structure, if i'm in the hoods or the drops, the saddle just won't scoot back far enough for me. The Fizik initially felt uncomfortable, but after some adjustments, the seat feels VERY nice. Firm, but comfortable. The big difference between the 2 is the San Marco seems to hide slightly poor fit pretty well whereas the Fizik almost demands near perfect fit. Once that's done, it's like a lightbulb turned on in your head. Everything feels right. Another thing i noticed was the harder i stomped on the San Marco, the more i tended to bounce...i think because of the cushioning. The fizik felt rock solid. I think i'm going to like this seat alot. i'll write a quick schpeel after i give it a few good miles on it

on a side note, the lbs treated me very well. i felt bad for going in 1hr to closing and made the bike fitter stay 30 min afterwards, but i wanted to get everything dialed in for a training ride this coming weekend and I have absolutely no time except Thursday nights (the shop requests weekday fits for ppl who bought the bike there because it gets very hectic at that shop on weekends). The guy who worked with me was very friendly and knowledgeable and quickly fixed the problems i had with a previous fit. he also discounted the seat price down which was a nice surprised. add to that, i offered him a tip, but he gratiously declined. talk about good service

anyways hope that review helps some of you guys deciding on a saddle.

G'day,

luv me Arione!...probably done 8,000 km on it in the last 6 mths...very happy. Tomorrow will be the acid test for any saddle though, doing a 300km race.....i reckon If i'm still comfortable by the end of that it'll be a miracle!,

cheers,

Hitchy
