Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tiagra shifters, Tiagra FD, 105 RD, FSA Crank, Sunrace Cassette, KMC? chain.

Upgraded it to:
105 5700 shifters with new Shimano cables, 105 5700 RD, 6700 Cassette, 6700 Chain, left the FSA crank and Tiagra FD.

The old stock tiagra setup shifted way better. I actually just got through posting about this over here:

I was this close to parodying this thread.

Think about the title a bit and change one letter.

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

I have a Tiagra compact crank that beat the pants off of a Truvativ crank. Not that that's difficult, either...

But, functionally speaking, it was as nice as the 105 compact I had on another bike, and also as nice as the R700 on a third bike.

Anyway, more relevant to the original question -- I just swapped my commuter from flat bars to drops with Tiagra. This bike already came with a Tiagra FD and RD and a Sugino crank (the Tiagra one I mentioned earlier is now on standby in case the Sugino bites the dust). The shifters work fine, and I'm satisfied with them. The 7800 shifters (on the third bike with the R700 and 6600 FD/RD), however, are tasty smooth. Worth the huge retail price? Nah, but they're easily worth the liquidation price I paid.

I've got Tiagra on a Cross Check. I bought the whole bike.
So I guess I only have the front and rear d-r's. They seem to work fine.
The crank that came on the bike was crap and made shifting the front a total crap shoot.
I changed it to a Dura Ace crank and no troubles.
The bar-con DA stifters work the way they are suppose to.

So if you think it's the d-railer that makes the shift, or the set up and cables; Yea it really works well.
If it's the shifters. I have no idea about Tiagra.
