Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need For Speed lol

So today i picked up my first trainer to go along with the rollers ive been using. Just to change things up well as i got bored on the trainer i decided to see how fast i can go. Managed to muster out 54 mph. Just curious what kinda numbers yall have put down on a trainer?

A lot slower speed than you, however I do have my set up so there is resistance.

lol well the resistance on my trainer(CycleOps Mag+) was all the way up. But then again even riding normal on it i notice very little diff with the resistance all the way up. I'm actually a little disappointed.

I don't think anyone thinks you are lying, however the amount of resistance you are using is probably not very realistic compared to actually riding.

its good for using and not having to worry about balance but i thought there would be more resistance but i mean it will def still give you a workout if you go for a hour. plus you cant beat FREE.

Yea she got a little scared being back there, she said it sounded like a 747 taking off

like i said, it is just mine to use. i am currently in an apartment and the rollers are too loud. i traded with someone temporarily. hopefully this is quieter. (i dont have a bum rear skewer to try it out)

What trainer are you using? How tight are you tightening it against the tire? Most require contact with the tire plus 2 - 2 1/2 turns.

Oh, a pissing contest. I'll join.

120km/h
I calculated it afterwards, and I hit 222rpm at that speed and gear.

O your 100% right on that because i have only been able to sprint up to 38 on a flat.

I can hit 40 on my rollers, but that doesn't translate at all to on the road speed.

You are going to need to tighten it down some more. I would say try two full revolutions after initial contact to start with.
