Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

reynolds or mavics?

Hey, I'm currently looking for a nice wheelset. I've been looking at the Ksyrium elites and I've been thinking about getting a set for $400ish on ebay. Also just saw performance bikes selling some reynolds attack clinchers and assault tubulars on their site for ~800 but with the 25% off and 10% member credit, it'll work out to be about 550 for the attacks and 520 for the tubulars.. what do you guys think??

Hmmm, used (no warranty nor any real idea of the condition of the wheels) Mavics for $400 or new (new product warranty and nice return policy) Reynolds for $550? I see your difficulty.

What is this 25% off that you speak of? Coupon? (I was just looking at the same wheels on their site).

yea, coupon code is 747. 25% off any single item including bikes. But unfortunately, it seems the only thing it doesn't work for is Mavic wheels..

All seriousness aside, I'd get new over used at that price point.

The "747" code does not seem to work. Does anyone know if it is expired?

hmm.. i was all ready to get a set of attacks.. the coupon code worked for 25% off in the cart, but at checkout it's only 15%.. might be a deal breaker. I'll reconsider later this afternoon!

Went and bought a set of Reynolds Attacks today from Performance. 20% off orders over $100 today, plus 10% coupon (727) = $800-$80-$144 = $579 before shipping and tax. Plus 10% member credit so $57 for your next purchase. Even better than the 25% off coupon

Was Performance selling the clincher Assaults? Haven't seen those and now they don't have assaults, at all. Did I miss them?

When did you order them? I ordered them a week or so back and had a big confusion then they told me they're permanently out of stock and I'm not getting any.

They were selling tubular assaults for 750, but it seems they are sold out. They had strike clinchers too but those seem to be gone too
