Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i couldn't care less about negative posts. as i said, i am just more starightforward than the gift recyclers or that those who show a happy face but wonder what the heck are they going to do with the 12th fruit cake they got for Christmas.

Oh Merry Christmas again to all.
So what are you going to do with the stuff? Did any of my suggestions help?

I wanted a new L4 / L5 for Christmas as the one I have isn't working the way it is supposed to... figure that in this case titanium would have been better than carbon fibre.

But nope... no new vertebrae for me this year.

Just got this stupid slave girl and no new socks... but she does seem to have a nice back.

I just checked the box she came in and guess she did come with accessories but wonder where is the rest of her policewoman outfit is ?

Those elves must be slacking off as all they sent were a set of hand cuffs.

I wonder if I can re-gift her to someone.

like someone gave me a knitted scarf to wear while biking...argh...i am never on a beach cruiser where the scarf flaps on the back...i also got a light that you fit on the helmet....poke me in the eye...i am not a construction worker or a miner...duh...

a bell, 2 inches in diameter and SS, a hand pump as long as a javelin and my favorite.."oh i did not know what bike item to give you i just bought you a gift certificate from a cycling shop (sounds good) in Bass Pro" pull my ears!!

it goes on and on...and i think it's
I go to the bike shop, pick out whatever I want then put enough of a deposit on it so the balance fits the giver's budget.

I personally don't care much for vouchers... it seems to me you take your Ł10 note (or however much) that you can spend anywhere and turn it into a Ł10 voucher that you can only spend in one shop. All well and good, as long as I wanted something from that shop. I prefer what we call Bank Of England gift vouchers that you can spend anywhere. If someone isn't going to choose a specific gift for me I'd prefer they just gave me cash than a quasi-cash that I can't spend where I want to spend it.

That said it's the thought that counts. I don't tend to exchange gifts with very many people and where cycling is concerned the people that know me also know that buying any old random stuff for the bike isn't going to help me (it also helps that people know I already have all the things they are likely to buy for me, unless they want to drop some serious cash on a gift)

I wouldn't wear the knitted scarf while cycling but might wear it when walking.

Honestly, aside from the gift voucher lark I think it's lame to call presents lame. But then perhaps it's lame to say it's lame to say presents are lame. Who knows. Happy Christmas

I really didn't get a nubile slave girl for Christmas but am still hoping for a pair of socks as without new socks, there is no Christmas.

I have taken a pass on Christmas gifts as I really want for nothing and would rather enjoy the opportunity it brings for people to get together with family and friends and I won't be seeing my family for another week and won't see my fiance until later in January.

These are the things in my life that aren't important because they aren't things... was really happy to hear that pcad's cat is doing okay as I know he really loves the mangy little thing.

We can always get another bike or some schwag we don't even need.

We are about to have Christmas dinner here and it is just a small group of friends who's families are either too far away to see or not with us anymore to celebrate with.

Next Christmas start your own BOC exchange or get in on one. Just box the stuff up and ship it off, wait a few days and get different stuff in the mail. Problem solved!

Soletme get this clear... the OP got all these items this Christmas?

If so, maybe famiy and friends were just paying her back for being a PITA if her attitude in this thread is any indication.
