The Cabin Fever Thread...

A place for gripes, for suggestions, for releasing tension and for talking about what you're going to do as soon as the weather breaks.

this is dumb.

I've put in nearly 3 times the time/miles on the trainer than I have on the road. This is mostly due to buying a hybrid in March '10, liking it a lot but needing more speed to keep up with buddies. Then getting a Road bike in June. I rode a bunch outside up until it started getting cold, but nothing serious. Since then I've been riding with a bit more purpose.

All that said, I can't wait to get on the road again. My longest ride ever was on the trainer (27 miles). I can't wait to at least double it on the road this spring.

I've gotten my mountain bike back out of storage and am going to use that on the really ugly days.
I don't want to ruin my road bike. I'm also looking at picking up a use cyclocross bike.

Right now, with my limited funds, it's either gear-up for riding outside or just invest in a good trainer set-up.
I have the sneaking suspicion that I will not be happy unless I'm outside. The weather doesn't bother me.
I work outside anyway and have a very physical job. What bothers me are the road conditions.

Put on your cold weather gear, quit procrastinating, get on your bike, and go for a ride!

I may take up forum posting as a hobby.

Ok, I've got tensions I need to release . . . somebody, ANYBODY has got to beat those frikkin' Patriots. I don't care who, I just don't want that smug Belichick to win again.

Anybody except the frikkin' steelers that is . . . they already have more rings than us.

Hey, I DO feel a little better now. :)

Pitt VS Pats?

I'm going to have to go with the Patriots. I hate Pittsburgh.
It's the one of the most depressing cities I've ever been in.
I'm sure there's something good and nice about it,
but I've just never seen it when I was there.

Plus, I've noticed, people from Pitt are just nastier
(maybe because they live in Pittsburgh?).

patentcad 01-16-11 02:25 PM

I rode 47 miles yesterday (it was 5ºF when I rolled out), 50 miles today (temps between 21ºF and 28ºF). So that helps.

patentcad 01-16-11 02:26 PM

Oh don't worry, the Jets will take care of New England.

You'll see. You'll all see.

I hope you're right.

But I got a bad feeling about this game. The press has blown this thing up waaaaay too big . . . the two nyc rags have had this on the front page virtually all week. Everybody's too pumped up for this ... prime environment for a catastrophic letdown. Makes players too uptight. Better off just going out and having fun . . . play hard but play loose, natural.

Too much, too much.

Just move to SoCal, don't have to worry about that pesky thing called snow (or cold weather). A beautiful 74ºF here today. :)

Pittsburgh..ranked as the most livable city in the US by Forbes isn't up to your standards?

It's the city of champions - that's why you didn't like it ;).

Blackdays 01-16-11 04:03 PM

Oh, and let's face it...the Jets have no chance against the Patriots.

Steelers vs. Patriots for the AFC. Which is appropriate considering these two teams have dominated the NFL this past decade.

Oh, and sorry about the smell. It's my smugness.

I know what you mean, I would never tear up my bike by riding it in bad weather. :D

This is from todays ride.

LC,

It hurts just looking at that beautiful bike! I came so close to picking up one of those Kestrels.
If I'm lucky, I'll be able to pick up a Cannondale CycloCross bike I have my eye on in 2 weeks.
I'm "down" to only 3 bikes now. Restocking is in order. :D

Here's a thought...ignore the thread. Don't click on it.
(Instead of proving Einstein's definition of crazy)

:D

Ignore the thread?

Does not compute.

Much more fun to complain.

Right, Coasting??

Have to admit, it's better than another "Roadies and xxxxxx" thread.
