don't know where to start. see whole thread.
your question should be more specific anyway. is it based on a real life experience or is this just a theoretical exercise?

Maybe a new set of wheels may be helpful but most often this type of exercise is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.

make variables more strict. are they following a specific curve of power output? in other words, is this an all-out-sprint or is it steady-state power?
for an all-out sprint, I think the heavy rider and light bike will arrive first (by a hair) if the power curve is identical, because of the reduced resistance coming from the drivetrain and wheels. but only by a hair.
for a steady-state power output one could effectively ignore the resistances and just go with classical mechanics. both riders will arrive at the same time.

allow me to propose a situation where the roles are reversed and the advantage goes to the lighter rider and heavier bike.
cornering.
if your CG (center of gravity) is lower, then it should be easier to corner. especially on descents where you have to flip it from right to left.

the road cycling community is rife with superstition, assumed beliefs and other such unscientific stuff.
I think it's worse than religion.
I thought you knew that by now.

The audiophile community makes road cyclists look like a cadre of rationalists, skeptics and agnostics by comparison.

Is it better to lose 5lbs off your body or 5lb off you bike? Which is cheaper? I would say my body for both. I have lost 6lbs in 5 months of biking. My mile time has improved by 1:35.

do both riders ride this experiment expending the same amount of watts per kilogram of body mass? It would seem to me that if the two riders of different weight could both generate the same amount of watts then it would affect the outcome of this theoretical time suck.
