Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does anyone know if Sean sells decals? I took my decals off because I wanted a stealth look, then when I got new wheels, I put them on my girlfriend's bike, and she hates the all black look.

I wrote to Sean twice, and have not received a response. Any ideas how to get a hold of him besides the email on the web page?

Hi Johnny, please e-mail us again, we had our server crash for a few days awhile back and I think your e-mail probably got lost in cyber limbo then. We do sell decals.

damn, I just had to open this thread didnt I. Now I want 3 sets ARRGH. However my inner car guy is coming out. Picture this Matte black bike, with the chrome stickers black pretty much everything with polished accents. and of course a set of these polished. now here is the fun part, after polish you negative mask where you want the "soul" branding to be and lightly bead blast it. Now tell me that wouldnt be sick. If you were really crazy and had a different color bike you could use the negative and paint it red with nail polish.

plus this should be a monster stiff wheelset. and about 1000 grams lighter than my current setup. I guess you could call it a S4.0 MAX this is honestly the first wheel set I have gotten excited about. -David

New 2013 Soul 3.0 wheelset

Received my new set of 2013 Soul 3.0 wheels last week. I really like the new design and I'm looking forward to trying these out in the Spanish mountains in a few weeks. Riding a proper road bike outdoors is still a month or two away here in snowy Sweden

Thank you Sean for quick replies and order handling!

A few pictures:

Exactly 1550g as promised!

Skewers are included. I opted for rimplugs instead of tape/strips, they weren't installed in the pictures.

Those look beautiful.

Hey Sean - not sure if this was asked before, but how come white spokes are available on the 4.0s, but not on the 2.0/3.0s?

I received a set of 3.0s last week and i'm loving them so far. They spin really well- no surprise there.
Ordering was very easy and shipping was handled quickly.

Front wheel with rim plugs came in at 701g. I'm not a weight wheenie, but it appears i got the fatty of the group. =(

Rear Wheel with rim plugs came in at 867g for a total of 1568g. 18g over advertised, but this includes rim plugs, so that's pretty close.

And here is my crit machine. I wanted to stick with alloy wheels and the 3.0s seem like a fair compromise between aero-ness and light weight.

I have ridden the wheels several times over the last week and I have to say, I'm very happy. They roll well, almost as well as the C6s. The wheels are very wide and seamlessly transition with the Conti S tires i'm using.
I went for a 69 mile climb fest yesterday and although they felt a bit heavier than a pair of 2.0s SLs i own, their performance was stellar.

That's because of the plastic protective discs, realistically the plugs shouldn't weight that much. That is a mighty fine looking bike BAU! First time seeing it apart from the Trek. Awesome.

For a few reasons; White spokes are heavier. The S2.0s are all about low weight. We had alot of enquiries about white spokes for the S4.0s so we decided to carry that option.

Thank you. Yes. It's whatever came stock with the bike, but pretty sure it is Fizik. It bugs me that it doesn't match the saddle, but it does not bug me enough to fork out $40 bucks for new tape...

Thanks!.. Sold the Trek a little while back and got the S5 recently on a killer close out deal. The trek was a great long distance/climbing bike, but i'm rarely going on 80+ mile rides anymore. The S5 suits my needs better right now. BTW, the 701 grams accounted for the plastic protective disc, but like i said, it's not a big deal. Some wheels just turn out a little heavier than others.

Hi Folks - I just wanted to make a big plug for Sean and Soul - and say that Sean went out of his way to fix an unfortunate mix-up with the dispatch of my new S3.0 wheels. The first set headed off to Africa by mistake (I spend time there), and as soon the issue had been discovered, Sean dispatched another set of wheels to the correct address in New York, and these arrived three days later. We're still working on getting the original wheels back to Sean, but he's just been completely straight down the line, very responsive and great!

I also took my new wheels for a short ride the same day I got them (yesterday), and they're great. I SWEAR that I notice quite a bit of a faster and stiffer ride compared to my previous set (admittedly they were a pair of Neuvations [which don't exactly get bad reviews for what they are]).

I'll update my experience with the wheels in due course - suffice to say, thus far, all things considered, Sean and Soul get a solid 5 star rating.

Cheers Sean!
