Cannondale's GM financing?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nothing like spoiling a good bike ride then looking down between your legs a just another monthly payment. Or even worse, a crashed frame that you are still making payments on. Save the money over the next 6 months and pay in full. Buy once, cry once.

It's weird how I've always purchased my A/V with a 0% for 12 months or so and pay it off before time is up, but never considered doing it on a bike. 0% for 6 months seem so short in my book. I wonder if anyone here had actually financed a REALLY expensive bike and went over the 6 months?

All fine advice.... on the merits and pitfalls of the credit system, on being a good boy and paying your debt, and of course, not squandering your savings on a bicycle ...etc. etc.

Basically sounds like the GM Financing is either 6 mo. or 1 yr interest free (awesome), so when I'm ready to pull the trigger, and if it happens to be a Cannondale, I'll go the financing route (and make sure not to miss a payment, and make sure not to go past the 0% interest window, and make sure not to crash!

I've seen similar financing plans where they don't contact you and don't make it easy and convenient to pay. Some of these same plans won't even allow a person to pay it off early, all in hopes that the lender screws up so they can go back and charge 30% interest. My experience with GE Money is that they're easy to use, flexible, and communicate promptly. I would use the service again.

The poster asked what people's experience with GE Money was so I shared mine.

Bikes are toys. Don't finance the purchase.

The only thing that hasn't been mentioned is terms may be set by the dealer, I think, not Cannondale per se. But it's reasonable to assume that most will have similar terms (Six months same as cash). Also if your initial 'limit' is lower, GE Money will extend the limit up to the purchase price if you call them.

GE Money bought SAMS Credit several years ago. They changed the billing date without so much as a notification. . ."Didn't you get a letter?" "No. I do believe I will cancel this. Thank You."

They are also the underwriters of CareCredit. Which I've also (not by personal choice) had the esteemed pleasure of messing around with. The only real snafu is their site only worked well in IE (I think it works in Chrome/Safari now-- I don't use Firefox)
