Yes. I knew it was one of those two.

if I might interject, how do you figure out the correct rake for the fork, and on the caad9 it's just a 1 1/8th, right?

SushiJoe 03-01-11 12:48 PM

I'm running an Easton EC90 fork on my CAAD9. Came as part of the BB30 Team Issue.

The Premium Plus fork you have in that photo should weigh in the 350-380 gram range.

Yeah, I was chuckling at the posts here. Back when they were doing the Six/13, Premium +, the carbon fork with carbon dropouts and steerer, was their pro issue fork. I had one.

Tough crowd...can't even ride the pro stuff.

Premium and Premium + are not the same fork. That seems to be lost on a few here.

You can put that in almost every thread.

too true.

i had a premium plus that got damaged when a car hit and runned(?) me and broke my pelvis, i replaced it with an alpha Q gs-10 (330 gms) that i got on ebay for $99 and free shipping, works great and probably the best $/gram ratio you can find

I still have the Premium Plus fork from my old Six-13, which cracked. That fork is super light and stiff.

Yes, the steer tube on the Caad 9 is 1 1/8th.

I believe the rake on the Slice Premium Plus is 43 mm, but I could be wrong. Most fork manufacturers will specify the rake. And yes, changing the rake can change how the bike rides/handles.

Yeah, too bad Wheel and Sprocket sold all their Alpha-Q forks. Best deals ever!

Very true. However it's no different than most message boards. The internet was invented to allow people who have no idea what they are talking about to weigh in on many subjects. Of course, face to face you get called out. Here, you can abandon the thread and never find out what you didn't know.

:)

It was a professional team issue fork for Saeco. Obviously they didn't see the "+" part...

BayAreaUser 03-02-11 04:58 PM

so, here are the 3T funda team (uncut) at 347grams and the Premium plus fork (cut with no space for spacers) at 332. The 3T will probably end up being the same weight if not a tad heavier. I will weigh the stock piece when the new fork goes in place, I'm too lazy to remove it of the bike right now.

Close friend had the same thing. When he yanked on the bars the brake pads were rub and the fork would flex visibly - we concluded that the stiffness of the frame 'magnified' the flexiness of the fork. He took it off the bike pretty quickly.

There are only 2 reasons to have a gram scale, one is for weighing forks and the other is????

Pepsi?

BayAreaUser 03-02-11 06:56 PM

Haha. I'm from Peru... Wonder if that leads to even more confusion?

Actually, I just picked up the scale today at Bed Bath and Beyond while looking for a birthday gift. At $19 I could not refuse. I should have done it earlier and weigh all components along the process. =( oh well.

Done.
Installed and wow...it made a huge difference in ride and balance of the bike.
I'm disliking the solid white block lettering.
If it would've had the outline lettering,
that would've been fine, but this logo has to go.
I'll be tinting it charcoal to make it disappear.

How did Simoni survive giving up 30 grams?

:)

BTW...for the world class fit gurus, note the angle of this multiple grand tour winner's stem.
