Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale R700

Hey guys, so I found a cannondale r700 on craigslist and wondering what your opinions are on it? It is the 2005 model with mixed components. There are some 105 and ultegra components. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/2244025012.html What do you guys think? Is the bike worth $420? Thanks in advance.

Make sure it fits, then judge condition in-person to see what it's worth to you. My wife has a 2000 or 2001 SR700, and it's a great ride (she rides same size as I do, and I "borrow" it sometimes).

I owned a 2005 CAAD7 Patriot Blue scheme for 2.5 yrs, replaced it with a mid-level carbon fiber bike, and was sorry within the month for selling my baby. I had upgraded mine to Ultegra 9-speed shifters and Ultegra crank, FSA Wing Pro bars, and some other minor things before selling it locally for $700. Mind you, that was in 2007 and the parts were far less outdated.

It is a great frame set!

I am still riding a 2005 R700 as my back up bike. I put >10,000 miles on it. Great bike and if it fits and is in good condition, it is a steal for $400 in my opinion.

I don't know your market, but around here that bike would be GONE at that price!
