Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

IcySmooth52 probably won't buy it, but I'm sure somebody on here would want to read about it and/orcould also probably afford it. Anyways you can all go back to the addiction thread or the is 20 mph fast enough thread

Bikes: Trek 4300 Disc

Specialized priced the SRAM at $8,800 and DI2 at $9,200. Frameset alone is $3,800. I think those are the correct numbers from what I saw ealier in their website.

- why talk about aero shapes when you have water bottles and big hulking legs and bodies essentially throwing the wind tunnel data out the window?

the real interview i'd like to hear is what do the Pros have to say about a certain company after they've moved on to another team/bike sponsor

It looks awesome, but if I were to pay that much I'd probably go with the Cervelo R5ca, because it's more beautifuler.

I do wonder about aerodynamic benefits once rider, and other equipment outside the frame is attached to the bike. In addition, Milan-San Remo seems like an odd race to debut this machine, since it is a race where breakaways will almost never work, and therefore, Cav and others will be riding in the pack until the hit the Poggio. I think the benefits to a bike like this are maximized by riders who specialize in breakaways, and who can win races where that kind of power is necessary (Gilbert or Cancellara are two such riders).

One interesting note - over at the Inner Ring - he has spent some time discussing the Aero position Cav gets into when sprinting, which compensate for lower than usual sprinter power numbers. I guess in that situation, this bike could be an even bigger advantage. However, since Cav will be riding it, what is the strength for repeated falls and crashes durability?

Bikes: S5 VWD & SL-7 S works Red.

It looks nice and has great marketing like most high end bikes.

The question raised about aero benefit with a water bottle and legs is really a good question?

Is the whole concept aero design of bikes beneficial or is it just marketing? Most of us don't wear a aero helmet so why aero bike? I think anyone that shows up one a group ride with a aero helmet is a true Fred, can the same be said of a aero bike?

Does it come standard with the sanded finish look on parts of the frame? because that would be totally badass if it did.

I hadn't seen some of the anything other than a drive side pic, but these 3/4 shots look really nice - love the paint scheme with the red accents on insides of the fork/stays, bottom of the DT and top of the TT. Lusty.

I'm a fan too. But it's a cheesy promo, IMO. What does the bike have to do with the car?
