Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ive used nair before (on my back, Im sicilian). It is a severely nasty volitile chemical mixture. If you leave it on too long my skin turns bright red and itches for a week. The acne breakout to follow is horrendous. it makes your skin feel like wet rubber. I have sworn it off forever, never again!

Nair doesn't work against anything but very fine hairs, and it barely works on those. Buy a set of clippers and an electric razor. Clip first, then shave.

Doesn't work. Hurts. Leaves you with patchy hair.

Razors or Wax, no inbetween.

Just bought some & tried it. says let on for at least 8 minutes, not exceeding 15. Damn stuff not only did not work very well (I tried it on my legs & chest), but It feels like somebody took a blow torch to my nipples! I had to follow up with a razor anyway. Junk.

you know, if you wan to lose all your nails, just dip your hand in that stuff for more than 30mins.
nails and hair are made from the same material.

Well, I'd like to add something to the subject, I use some Veet, the green bottle, which is about the same thing I think but Well I use it to get rid of the huge amount of hair at the beginning of the season. I apply it 3 to 5 minutes and hop done. No problem like you guys reported.

i spent 20+ years as a swimmer before i got back into cycling last year, and shaving down for big meets was a must. the product to use is Nair for Men; not Nair. this stuff is a superior product and if used correctly will give exactly the results desired. but you have to use Nair for Men- silver squeeze bottle, with nave blue top. it changed my life re: shaving down for meets.

I haven't used Nair "Power" but I've used regular Nair for Men from my local CVS. It does work on thick hair (I'm Greek and have thick dark hair). You just leave it on for 8 minutes and wipe the hair away. However, you MUST take a shower right after to wash the hair-free area with soap and water. If you don't you will experience uncomfortable skin irritation. As long as you immediately wash the skin with soap and water, you will not have even the slightest discomfort.

Disclaimer: I don't use this stuff for cycling, but instead use it for a certain area that isn't all that accessible for shaving. I wouldn't use this stuff all over my body. I only use it for that one hard to shave place and then quickly shower afterwards. It's too potent/acidic/toxic smelling for me to want to use it all over my body. If I cared enough to remove the hair from my legs, I would definitely use a razor and shaving cream.

I use my gf's nair all the time. Put it on for 5-10 min before a shower. Hop in the shower. Done. Its not as smooth as a razor but so much easier.

I heard that you can use it as a substitute for chamois cream.

You must be a chick. Even if it weren't ineffective at removing hair, it stinks like hell, is caustic, and takes forever.

Shaving takes less than 2 min and the results are far superior.

Our shower has a stone floor and the one time I used it, the inability to remove that special "Nair" smell about drove my wife to kill me.... Gimme a razor.

I'm telling you - for the next few days I felt like Andy Bernard on the episode of The Office when they were participating in a charity run for rabies. He was wearing band-aids over his nipples due to a "sensitivity issue". However, I am glad somebody got some laughter out of this besides my wife.
