Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Degreaser - in a bind...

Hi

This morning it was really wet and muddy here. I went for a ride and had not choice but to go through some pretty large puddles/muddy areas.

Now, my drivetrain is caked with dirt and is squeaking pretty bad. It needs a clean and a lube.

As it turns out, I am out of degreaser, and the LBSs' are closed until Monday.

I want to ride tomorrow.

Are there any household products I can use to clean my drivetrain without doing any damage? Can I just use some dish soap or something?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Dish soap works pretty well.

Dish soap does work well, but rinse well with hot water and dry thoroughly before lubing.

Do you have simple green?

But I use dish soap afterwards and it cleans it up well.
