-I spend half of the year working in logging camps and forest management, complaining and whining that I don't have time to ride and it sucks not to be able to ride a 50km after work ('cause you are surrounded by logging roads and logging trucks);
-The other half of the year, I spend waaay too much time complaining that I don't have a bike nice enough to be ridden hard (on the road, at least), and no cash to buy a new one... while being unemployed;
-Daydreaming, planning and pondering about my best rides takes me more time than actually ride them
-I love to look pro and hardcore: even if I'm cruising the old city, I'll bomb down the hills with the proper "casual-but-aggressive" rider look: a pair of Race Face, Loeka or Salomon knickers, my cycling shoes, helmets, gloves...AND team bottle. But I'm nowhere near that fast nor cool;
- I pay attention to which socks I'm wearing 'cuz long top socks make my calves and ankles look fat;
- I usually start to put on my 3/4 cycling pants even if it's 2 degrees C outside and take great pride on enduring the cold, even if my legs freeze off and stay glowing red for the rest of the day
- I let my cables fray way too much before changing them
- I'm afraid of hydraulic disc brakes for my mountain bike; I'm also afraid of re-hopping on my saddle fast, thus preventing me from trying cyclocross (that I badly want to try)

and, finally, I am waaaaay too chicken to try any new tricks on my bike or harder trails: I prefer to rip beginner and intermediate trails because I'm afraid of having a bad fall, crash and be hurt (even though I played rugby for 10 years)!

I didn't know there was an ignore function.

I don't know how to use multi-quote.

Thanks ;) Function over form!

You're welcome. :) I'm a firm believer in that. ;) Just look at the huge seat bag on my road bike in my profile picture. I'm a firm believer in being self-sufficient, so I carry what I need to do any repairs on the road.

Facebook is overrated; Bike Forums is not. I still have an account in both.

Too bad the 41 Hall of Fame selection is set; otherwise, this is a good addition to it.

When I was young and given money as a present for Christmas or my birthday, I would buy the simple Lego set i wanted for the past year and give the rest of the money to some one else less fortunate. Now when I am given money for Christmas or my birthday I do the same but with the entire amount.

Dont tell my family.

This thread impresses me more and more the longer it goes on! The world needs more people like you. :thumb:

I think mountain bikers are more fun to be around than roadies. Unfortunately, on web forums, mountain bikers are dullards.

Whenever I get passed by a roadie, I always wonder how much he can bench.

mrbUSA 05-05-11 01:14 PM

I refer to it as 'swag'

i carry bags of kittens and puppies with me to hand out to any children who I encounter.

bghill1 05-05-11 01:26 PM

I bought my last road bike based on how good it looks, not how good it may or may not fit.

C-R700 05-05-11 01:36 PM

I have been on BF for a long time, hardly ever post.

Who could argue with this?

YokeyDokey 05-05-11 01:44 PM

I wear a compression shirt one size too small under my jerseys

YokeyDokey 05-05-11 01:45 PM

OH, and I have NEVER cleaned my Schwinn. Or my bicycle either, for that matter.

rmr1923 05-05-11 01:46 PM

i was riding around in front of my house testing my new clipless pedals recently and, of course, unclipped the wrong foot and fell over. my neighbor's 7 year old daughter was apparently watching, she came outside and offered to give me the training wheels that her dad recently took off her bike.

pdxtex 05-05-11 01:52 PM

i dont trust bicycle products made in china but i will give most anything made by shimano or made in taiwan the green light. i think sram sucks and campy is way over priced. *ducks head*.

jsharr 05-05-11 01:57 PM

I got the painter to sneak my bike into the booth in front of Rad's.

The night before each ride, I set out all my cloths, put dry coffee in the plunger and pour the cereal in the bowl.
All I have to do when I wake up is boil some water and pour some milk and then i"m ready to go.

+!

Apparently so did everyone else.

You might want to add another step where you put your clothes on, since you took all the time to set them out.

mmmdonuts 05-05-11 02:41 PM

I change my breathing and position when I pass people to look like I'm not working hard.

I still ride a Schwinn. My other bike is also 20 years old with a steel frame.

I'm a triple-pervert then. I have three '86 Schwinn Peloton frames, (25", 23" & 21" (collect the whole set, kids!)).
The 25 is built up, and I'm currently working on the 23, one part at a time. Luckily I have no wife to put up with my sickness.

Don't they allow new inductees annually??

If so this thread should be on the ballot.

boogoshea 05-05-11 03:11 PM

When I pass people going uphill, I casually scratch my back to make it look like I'm not working hard.

YokeyDokey 05-05-11 03:20 PM

My dirty old Schwinn still has a kick-stand.
