The team kit still hasn't arrived... so until then, my limited wardrobe of cycling apparel definitely gets worn more than once between washes.
It's because of cycling that I've started doing laundry regularly. Before, it was the typical collegiate male "I'll do all my laundry, then ride out the clothing supply until I have to wash everything again." Now, I have to keep the kit relatively clean, so that means laundry more often. When not road riding, I'm kind of a skinny jean wearin', fixed gear ridin', dirty hipster. When riding said fixed gear bike, I definitely run red lights. (not blow through them or anything, but if it's definitely clear enough for a pedestrian to jaywalk through, I'll sometimes roll through without a second thought) When on group road rides, if I'm in front, I have to consciously remember to not roll through reds in a similar manner. I'm 6'1", and 165 lbs. Tall, lanky, and generally pretty fit. However, last week (and I think the first time ever for me), I caught myself noticing what little fat I have over my stomach, and thinking 'Yeah, I could lose a few pounds.' I LOVE when little kids see me in full kit (wearing a helmet!), and have that "woah! cool!" face. When I was growing up, I thought helmets were uncool, had zero interest in road bikes, and didn't even know you could easily get into amateur racing of any kind until early in college. I like feeling like a positive influence. I didn't read the rest of the confessions, I just hopped to the last page to post mine. (I'm catching up, I swear) I could go on... but that's it for now. |
It would appear after reading this thread, that I commit some sort of cycling fashion faux pas every time I ride my bike. . . :fred:
I don't coordinate my gloves with my jersey I don't coordinate my socks with my jersey I don't coordinate my jersey with my bibs I don't coordinate my kit with my bike I don't coordinate my jersey with my helmet Ohhhh the shame!!!!! /self loathing |
I pretty much always gain weight when I ride a lot.
Because of this, I will probably never have a sub 190 pound race weight. I hate riding without cycling shoes. |
I am terrified to join a race because I'm afraid I would do horrible . . .
I like my bike tan . . . |
I like to cool down by wiping down my bike
and drinking cold diet coke, then i prop my bike up in front of me a few feet aware from me, drivetrain side facing me, and admire it- for a long time, with Luke, my Labrador Retriever, sitting next to me in a lawn chair. |
That I wear a helmet.......ALWAYS, always have, always will.
and that I owe 18Hockey an apology |

*Sorry, twig and berries. That Canuck is going to shout at us again otherwise Another confession - I wear color-matched bibs and jerseys, and have actually deluded myself into thinking I look good in lycra. |

When I adjust the RD I can't figure out which way to turn the knob without trying it one way, and then trying it the other way...
|
I frequently feel annoyed inside when my GF wants to go out to eat and we spend $30, but then drop 115 times that on a bike.
Sometimes I really feel unmotivated to actually GO riding. Once I am on the bike, I love it. Sometimes I feel I'm a reasonably strong rider, sometimes I'd be embarrassed to be seen. Although I love them, descents scare me. Very worried about my first serious injury to come from this sport. |

Get ready for this... If you're behind the bike, looking at the RD, the turning the adjuster in (Ie, counterclockwise) adjusts the RD toward the big ring of the cassette, and turning it outwards (Clockwise) adjusts it toward the small ring of the cassette. :) Usually you'll be able to figure out which way it needs to go by noticing whether the chain is wanting to stay on the big rings when you are shifting down, or vice versa. Adjust to compensate. |
i have a cervelo S2 and just bought an S3 because i've somehow convinced my wife (and myself) that they are different, and i need both. there, its off my chest now...
|
Even though my CR1 is more than enough bike for me, I've convinced myself that I NEED a Lynskey Ti with SRAM Force and a killer set of wheels. Currently trying to convince my wife the same thing.

For example you can't say ****** or ******bag so I have to write d ouchebag. And you can't say **** or **** or **** but you CAN say prick. I laughed. |

- I got my first road bike only three years ago.
- I've ridden more in the last 13 weeks than I did in the first 2 years I owned said road bike. - I've lost 36lbs and 8.4% body fat in the last 13 weeks, because of said road bike. - I want a cheeseburger so bad I can't f'n stand it. |
I killed Osama bin Laden - mufferfurker stole one of my donuts.

I bought a slightly used Six-13 frame to build up as my new race bike, but couldn't be bothered, so it's still in the box 6 months later. Anyone wanna buy it ?
I don't have urges to upgrade my bikes. I prefer shorts to bibs (never noticed waistband, shoulder straps are annoying) |
I don't climb well for my weight.
I am not peaking in two months. |
I spend more money on bike gear than on my girlfriend. I got my girlfriend started in cycling and now she almost matches my expenses. Together I reason that I'm spending money on gear for us or I just buy cool stuff for her.
I valiantly justified a larger fit of an online bike deal, off of ebay no less (although new, smooth order, no problem) I stopped being interested at Mint because I have a flawless record at blowing my bike budget But most of all... I don't show enough gratefulness, gratitude and love to my girlfriend who probably picked up cycling only to spend more time with me |
Although its what I tell people who ask, Clyde Sefton did not sell his bike to me at the airport.
|
I don't know who Clive Sefton is.
I don't "get" most pop culture chit chat (don't watch much tv or movies). |
My "other" ride's a KiloTT
|
OOps its Clyde Sefton. Edited my post. Aussie Olympic and pro cyclist from the 70-80's.
|
I'm afraid I won't ever get fast enough to be a real part of the team I just joined.
Now that I'm getting more serious, I daydream about upgrading to something *fancy,* but am afraid of looking like a fool with too much money to spend on too much bike. |
I spend too much money on cycling. It's still a fraction of what the avg BFer spends. I'm cheap.
I like my truck. I want a bigger one. I don't care about MPG. I used to like LA. Still admire his accomplishments. I spend too much time on BF while working (or instead of working?) |
