Best 27 1 1/4 tire
So I am the proud owner of two older cannondale road bikes. One has 700c wheels, and one has 27 1 1/4 wheels. Now I want to assume those are not interchangeable. The bike with the 27's, I just put specialized tri sport tires. I have put about 450 miles on them. So I should be replacing them in about a month and a half. I didn't know if there was a better choice as far as tires in the 27 1 1/4 size. I do a lot of commuting and didn't know if there was a better choice. I don't really care about cost, cause the money I save in gas, is well worth the cost of a tire.

Not sure if they're still in production but I've also used Vittoria Zafirros in 1 1/8" size and 700x23 and they're not so great. FWIW I've caught more flats on those tires than any other.

I would imagine that more up in price you go, the better. You can also use 27 1 1/8 tires on that wheel, which is smaller.

All things being equal, it's a smaller and lighter tire, which mostly translates into less rolling resistance and perhaps a small decrease in ride quality, although not necessarily . 1/8's surly look better.
If you do a lot of commuting or if you are just starting out, I'd go with 1/4 because it's easier on a wheel (less vibration and more resistance to the road chock). It all really depends on your personal taste and what you are using the bike for.

Well, I will probably do the 1/8's then. I was hoping to get something with a little less resistance. Now was my 700c assumption correct, I couldn't swap? Cause I was actually thinking of getting different wheels, something a bit lighter than steel, but 27's just aren't available.

You can not put 700 tires on a 27'inch wheel if that's what you meant, but you can probably swap the wheels (27 to 700 wheel) as long as the drop out distance from one side to the other is the same size (see pic), or if you can slide down your brake pads about 4 mm because the wheel is smaller.
