simple solution. don't stand when you climb. :innocent:
Patient: "doctor, it hurts when I do this".
Doctor: "So don't do that".

Look at the 3T Ergonova alloy bars. They're about $80 and worth every penny. As new saddle is also a good sub $100 pick up, depending of course on your choices.

Just got a new saddle last week. Serfas Stinger. 190g and actually very comfortable. The stock seat was the opposite of comfortable.

probably the best performance upgrade I'd suggest for your money rather than bars would be tires, but it's your money and if you don't like the bars, put it there. Whatever makes you happy and more likely to ride and all that...

Yep, did that also. It came with Kenda tires and after about 150 miles they were already very worn and flat on top. Replaced them with Rubino Pro Slicks this weekend.

I don't get the controversy. I am thinking about getting new handlebars. That is all. I would like to try bars with the flat tops because sometimes the palms of my hands hurt on a long ride from being on the hoods. Was thinking a nice wide top would be a good place to rest for a while. If you are offended, then please don't post. If you have these "aero" bars and like them or don't like them I would like to know before I decide to buy. What I don't have is the $$$ to go through several bars to figure out which is best. What just hoping to get some helpful reviews on this style of bar.

The only way to find out what YOU like is to try a bunch. What other people think isn't very useful. Believe it or not, there are people who actually like ergo bend bars!

I managed to get the EA70 Ergo-Wing Bars a couple of years ago for super cheap, but here is the similar handlebar. Have this handlebar on the touring bike. They are very nice. http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...ebar+Ergo.aspx
$50.00

I will probably be upgrading the SL Club with these when I decide to make the upgrade. However these are not under the 100 dollar range. S-Lite Carbon integrated stem with internal cables (which CAN be a pain in the ass, but I am not too worried) Ergo-Wing with 3k weave finish. http://slbikes.com/index.php?route=p...&product_id=64
$200.00

Seriously, I was amazed at how quickly these tires wore out. I could have ridden them a bit more, but the tread was already gone in the middle...plus there was a 1/2 inch gash on the rear tire and I could see the thread. Thought about just putting some Gorilla Glue in there, but decided to just get new tires.

And generally the problem with western medicine right now. Treat the symptoms and not the problem.

I like these bars because they have a flattish section on top, but it is still pretty rounded. Retail for 110, but should be easy to find for less:

When they get tired of it, they buy for the sake of the economy instead.

Have you ridden flat-top bars b/4? Some people actually prefer the round-tops.

Be certain it's gonna work for you before purchase.

That's the problem. How do I get to ride them? I don't know anyone who has them. Was hoping to get some feedback from people here who do have them.

Maybe head over to a high-end shop, where it's possible they'll have a bike set up with one. Also, may be search can help with people who have actually had experience with both types. I can ride both, but I prefer the round tops.
