Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Newb saying hello!

Hi, I'm new to the game, I've put my first 1000km on (nothing to you guys) and I'm fully completely hooked. I used to cycle non-stop as a teenager but most of my adult life (I'm 36) I didn't do any real cycling (I do have an MTB but mostly chased my kids with it).

I think I was intimidated to try it out, all the fancy hardware, interesting clothing and gear and a whole lingo and culture I wasn't sure about. I'm catching on and I'm liking it and starting to enjoy Lycra.

I'm a bit Fredish, but here is my bike! It's a 2010 Wilier. I just put some GP4000s's on it yesterday!

Cheers from Ottawa,
Seth

BF has me thinking about aero-dynamic-rims and CF handlebars with flat-wing-areas and lightweight-bar-tape and aerodynamic-water-bottles and a bunch of other non-sense (which is fully consuming me while I should be working (or sleeping)).

Welcome. You DO know that you'll have to paint your garage door white for future bike pics, right?

That bike is no good. To remedy the situation, you should box it up and send it to me at once!

Glad you're digging getting miles in. Nothing else clears my head like a good ol' bike ride.

Welcome Seth. Nice rig.

BForums is a nice place to learn about a lot of biking-related stuff, but some people can sometimes be mean here.

My advice: do not take anything here personal.

Enjoy the bike.

Thanks! I love this place.

So... I ordered some PSIMET Carbon wheels with custom blue spokes to match the bike! I really don't need them, but I have to have them!
