cycling apparel

when you wear your jerseys and stuff, do you try to match the color of your apparel to the color of your bike?

terrain 05-31-11 12:56 PM

No.

K&K_Dad 05-31-11 12:58 PM

My helmet matches my bike. But it was the only color they had in stock when I bought my helmet. There are a few OCP's that would match kit to bike though.

No, I buy what appears to be a good deal. I don't even match my jerseys to my shorts. I have never bought cycling clothes to make a fashion statement.

tagaproject6 05-31-11 01:10 PM

No. I don't care about the fashion police.

Jed19 05-31-11 01:10 PM

You match your jersey to the color of your handlebar tape, then you match the shoes to your tire color.

johnny99 05-31-11 01:55 PM

I know some girls who look real cute when they match their helmet and jersey colors to their bike color.

bonz50 05-31-11 02:15 PM

black shorts go with everything... white shirts go with everything... white or black helmets go with everything... no need to make fashion statements or try to match...

Sanman023 05-31-11 02:43 PM

just helmet and bike...thats about it...

caloso 05-31-11 02:51 PM

Race or group ride: full team kit. Commute or solo training ride or JRA: whatever's relatively clean.

pgjackson 05-31-11 03:14 PM

Everybody is saying no, but just take a ride up and down the PCH and you will see probably at least 1/4 to 1/2 of the riders perfectly matching their bike. I have a blue helmet that matches my blue bike. But I wear solid black bibs and whatever jersey is on sale. My favorite jersey is orange and black.

GP 05-31-11 03:25 PM

I look good in everything. And nothing.

BillyD 05-31-11 03:37 PM

If you can match the color of your jersey or whole kit to your bike, why not!

I wouldn't buy more than one matching outfit though, that starts to get a little OCP.

abstractform20 05-31-11 03:41 PM

depends. i like to match when possible. not too concerned with what others have to say about my wardrobe.

aprevo15 05-31-11 03:41 PM

i think it would look sick to match the bike.

Nachoman 05-31-11 03:42 PM

Usually a half assed attempt to match jersey with socks.
Don't be hatin!

caloso 05-31-11 03:43 PM

FWIW, I changed the bar tape on my race bike to match my kit. At first I thought it might be a little much, but it made it a lot easier for my kids to pick me out of a pack, as not many bikes have orange bar tape.

And it matches your water bottle!

robbie_vlad 05-31-11 03:46 PM

My kit (bib & jersey) are white and red. My bike is black and red (red cables, computer and bottle cages incl.), red Conti GP4000s, red bar tape. More of an OCD thing for me than caring about what others think, so take it for what it's worth.

Yikes. I really am matchy. Embarrassingly so, it would appear.

Carbon Unit 05-31-11 03:53 PM

If wear white socks people ask me why I don't wear socks because my legs and the socks are the same color.

NebrVandal 05-31-11 04:42 PM

When I wear my Idaho Vandal jersey (black/gold/silver) it almost matches my black/yellow/white CR1. Only then, do I wear my black/yellow shorts. They do go w/my yellow Krylions & black/gold/silver/white Giro Monza lid. Otherwise, no.

aprevo15 05-31-11 05:17 PM

i have a red and white bike with some black. i was thinking of this gear.

To hot in Florida to worry about fashion -- i dress for comfort. Shorts and a plain white t-shirt.
