Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help w/ Bontrager Node 1 computer

I just bought a Bontrager Node 1 computer. Works great...it has the ability to provide heartrate via a Ant + compatible Heart rate strap. Bontrager doe not appear to sell them alone only in a bundle. I understand the Garmin is compatible with the Node 1. Does anyone have a better recomendation For a Ant + heartrate strap??? or where to get it at a great price?

Yes I have googled

The Bontrager HR strap is available from Trek for $65. The Node computers can use any ANT+ sensors, so you have a big selection. I have used the Garmin speed/cadence sensor with my Node 2 before my new sensor arrived. Almost all the big name sensors are ANT+.

If you are willing to wait there are several stores in the UK that have the Bontrager Heartstrap by itself. Did not find anywhere in the US that had them. I have the Node 2 and started using the included heartstrap as well as a cadence sensor and just love it! If you bought the Node 1 at your LBS recently any chance on a return for store credit and put in the difference on a Node 2? I considered the Node 1 myself but thought I might want the added features of the Node 2 and wound up springing for the Node 2 instead. Good luck Gene
