Hi all,

I recently purchased a secondhand 54cm Calfee Tetra Pro frame. It has a ~130mm 1" head tube at a 73mm head tube angle, which makes finding a fork for it a bit of a tricky proposition. I like a reasonably high handlebar position (I'm not in my twenties anymore) so a bare minimum steerer length is 200mm and the longer the steerer tube the better.

I ran across this old post by someone in a similar situation: https://forums.serotta.com/showthread.php?t=13478 and it seems like it might make sense for me to try to find a fork with 40mm rake, as I would definitely prefer more relaxed handling. However, the only 1" fork I can find new with a 40mm rake is a WoundUp. In general it looks like a great fork but I've heard that it's a bit stiff for a 150lb rider like me.

So I have a few choices:

1) go with the 40mm WoundUp (40mm rake, but too stiff?)
2) go with a Ritchey Comp 1" fork (43mm rake, but much cheaper and smoother ride?)
3) keep searching on eBay for some NOS fork (could take a while, and most steerers are too short...)
4) have a steel fork custom made
5) have the frame head tube reworked to 1 1/8" (~$400)

Just curious if I'm missing any options here. What would you do in this situation?

Nashbar has a 1" carbon fork. Both threaded and threadless.

Thanks! I somehow forgot to include that option, and it's only $80. Wish they had different rake options but that would be too much to ask.

Anyone know who actually makes the Nashbar fork? Somehow it seems like heresy to put a Nashbar product on a Calfee but if it's a decent fork, who am I to argue

I've used Nashbar and Bikeisland/Kinesis carbon forks on my bikes with 1" headtubes and I have no complaints other than they are not the lightest. I've been wanting something sexier like a Wound Up or a Reynolds but my cheap forks ride fine and I can't justify the cost.

The nashbar fork should be fine, and overbuilt (and somewhat heavy). If you're OK with a fork that weighs a few hundred grams more than a nicer one by all means get it.
