Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have the latest software version (2.80) for my Edge 500 and the "Course" performance has been pretty abysmal.

According to this: "Improved course performance and corrected an issue that could cause some courses to stop processing" was something that went into version 2.60. A effin crock if you ask me.

i've got all the updates also and the course function does not work so hot. it's okay while it works, but drops the signal often and sometimes crashes. i just upgraded to an 800. if you are interested in a perfectly good used 500 (though maybe this is not the thread to advertise the 500), pm me.
