Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Check out my new ride!

I saw this baby at a garage sale this morning and all though I have never fixed a bike or tuned one up; it seemed pretty mechanically sound. I tested out the shifters, brakes, wheels seem straight. I picked it up for $12!!!! I went home to air up the tires and one of them blew. I thought the tire blew from being an old tube but it actually seemed to be installed incorrectly.

I picked up a new tube on my way home from work this morning, gave it a decent cleaning, and lubed up the chain. It works great!

$12!?

Sweet deal for around-the-neighborhood riding or to take to a college campus. Damn good deal. I bet it weights 40 pounds and is about as stiff as wet spaghetti, but still. Damn.

Gotta get rid of that gross-ass foam wrap ASAFP.

Now that is what I call a steal. It has more than that only in metal weight!

Bikes: Have two wheels

Looking good for $12. I agree with vespoli; get some real bar tape for that bike stat.

I bought a 1970 Hercules English Racer for $15, 10 yrs ago. It was the greatest bike. Took my daughters on rides in their trailer when they were 1.5 and 3 yrs old. Those two years of my life were priceless. And I couldn't have done it without that $15 dollar purchase. Only you create those priceless adventures. Congatulations!
