The wife of one of the riders had a run in with a triathlete on a local bike path over the weekend and he decided to jump in with the other 2 who didn't like my bike and they convinced the rest of the group that I was an accident waiting to happen. He seemed apologetic, and stood up for me with another rider, but they eventually gave in to the very angry guys who wanted me out. Seems like it was partially about the bike, and partially about one guy getting really pissed off that some guy in a sleeveless jersey almost hit his wife and taking it out on me.

This certainly is stupid enough for road cycling.

Lol the road nazi is strong in this thread. No wonder people think road cyclists are d-bags.

The problem isn't some handling issue with TT bikes. The real problem is that 90% of the tri geeks out there are Velo Morons who are dangerous in a pace line. If you know what the eff you're doing a TT bike handles (on the cowhorns) much like a regular road bicycle.

Your Uncle Pcad over here may be a Moron, but I am not a Velo Moron.

Pcad, I can help find you some resources for therapy. I notice you talk to yourself a lot.

After running for miles and miles, I could see how one or many could lose some of the connection between them and their legs, therefore their balance getting out of true.

anyhow @ .35 secs, what the hell is the story of the dangling shoe?

looked like some of the running shoe got stuck...imagine how much time youd save...sitting switching...mounting then hauling ass...vs. the panic mode they are in

incorrect. there is no fixing aham23.

later.

hueyhoolihan 07-26-11 08:14 AM

so are we saying a tribike is essentially the same as a road bike, but the owner has some type of aerobars?
is it really that trivial?

just trying to get a hold on what's this is about from a technical POV.

That would complete the high school drama.

Yes!

DropDeadFred 07-26-11 08:16 AM

no, it's a fact that tri bikes are harder to handle...its their geometry...yes you can be a good rider and handle a tri bike well, but you can also be a bad rider and handle a road bike horribly...it comes down to the rider and the comfort level of the group. In this case it came down to the wife...which was a total ***** move since shes not the one riding in the group...

Maybe because they're not all Cervelos. That must be it. My P3 is quite agile when I'm on the cowhorns, really doesn't feel much different than a regular road bike. Of course I am an exceptionally ace bike handler, so don't go by what I say.

I would argue that your cervelo road is more like a tri thus making the feel in difference minimal. If you're comfortable on both awesome. I have yet to pop my butt on a tri bike....I'd like to just to see how I do...

I was wondering how much commission you make for each time you state the brand :P Seems like you have a daily quote to meet.

Some friendly knowledge coming at you:

Triathlons go Swim>Bike>Run.

For faster transitions triathletes leave the shoes clipped onto the bike. They mount on the move, then get their feet inside the shoe. That's why triathlon biking shoes have 1 large velcro strap.

jwible 07-26-11 08:44 AM

We have strong tri geeks on our main group ride. One of them can't handle his road bike for crap. Drives me nuts, but I give him space and try not to get stuck with his wheel when I'm in line. We don't have a policy on the aero bars but common sense prevails.
