Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whip?

Whip? Really?

Come on, guys - it was annoying when the "cool" kids called their cars "whips" years ago... but bikes?

The insanity has to stop.

That is all.

I like it when the reason behind a slang word is readily apparent. I have no idea how or why the term "whip" was ever considered as a synonym to car or bike.

While we're at it, what possessed people to call something good "fly" or "sick"?

A "whip" is a FOUR WHEELED motor vehicle. NOT a bike, cycle, or skateboard.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

No, a whip is a flexible implement of pain. There is also an acceptable political definition. All other definitions are slang and just as right or wrong as the other.

Bikes that beat you to death should be called misery whips.

I have never heard a bike called that. I am never going to call a bike that. In fact, I already forgot that someone called a bike that (whatever that was).
