walmart pump?
I found this pump at walmart that has both schrader as well as presta attachments. Also, the meter reads up to 200 psi. And it's only $20. Is this legit or a waste of money?
|
Sorry, I'm no help as I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart due to ethical considerations.
|
No mention of make/model, and no pic.
How could anyone give an opinion? |

I have that exact pump. Works great!
The person using the pump .. eh, not so much. One thing weird with it though is that you pull up (instead of the usual push down) on the pump head to "lock" it. |
i've been using it since march, it gets the job done. i use to run 125 psi in the rear tire when i had ultremos, it got that high pretty easily.

Good pump, great price.

I don't go to W store but I got one from K store which is probably the same thing, Schwinn one. It still works but sometime it whistles the air from the top of the pump. It leaks. Still manageable tho'. I wish I had spent more and didn't go to k store. Next time.

I have that exact Zefal pump from Walmart. Overall it works very well, and I use it all the time.
I have the same minor gripe as Runner 1. You push the locking lever up, instead of down to secure it. It's a little awkward, but not bad. Another more important gripe is that when I use it on Schrader valves, it is hard to remove from the valve. It takes a lot of effort and some practice to keep from letting out too much air. I have no problems with Presta valves. Again, overall, I like it. |
I bought it, and wow. the presta connector works great? The loud pop when I remove it from the valve is a little discerning. It sounds like my tire just blew out. Hopefully, the tire doesn't lose too much air that way.

I prefer a electric pump

Yup, i have one also, and have never had any problems with it. I use it nearly every day on one type or the other valve. The gauge is pretty accurate, too. That sliding adaptor mechanism is nifty.

My cousin has that pump and I have a Topeak Joe Blow Sport-II. The Joe Blow is a much much more solid pump, so much that he's getting the same pump soon. Price difference is about $15 and worth every penny.

What's wrong with getting a real pump at a real LBS so you wouldn't have to start assinine threads asking if the Wal-Mart pump is worth it....I mean, seriously, over $20? Or, looking at a price differential for a proper pump, over another $10 maybe?

no doubt. these days $10 gets you 1 gallon of gas. i will save $10 every chance i get.
|
Nothing wrong with it. Good on you that you didn't need to start a thread asking about it.

For $20, use it until it breaks, then take it back & get another one. Thats the good thing about walmart. Try that with your LBS. That being said, I bought a Park pump from my LBS that looks almost identical to the walmart one & I think I spent $35. I would bet if I looked hard enough on the pump, somewhere it would say "made in china". So guess who is making out better

I have a Schwinn pump that I got off craigslist for $5. It pumps out the same air that a $70 Lezyne would, so why would I ever pay more?

FWIW, my LBS actually used this pump for 2 weeks or so (their Joe Blow died). It lasted for about a month, but after that, the locking lever just fell apart and it would no longer hold in the air. It's a decent pump though; i've pumped up tires to 110 psi with it, but overall, not very durable. |
