Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Colnago C59 Italia Di2

Get the one that has the best machining finish on the clamp.

Stems are one of those components which doesn't get or deserve too much attention................I go strictly by the looks.
Black CF frame w/ a white saddle and a Token white CF stem......way too cool!!!
Ritchey WCS wet white is also very nice.

huh? 3T ARX Team: 125gr. in 110mm

Looks are subjective, but I don't like the way 3T stems look. The clamp areas are too bulky looking.
I find the Ritchey and Zipp (alloy) stems to have the nicest profiles. In terms of stiffness, they are all stiff enough.
The only concern I have with the Ritchey carbon wrapped stems is that the carbon layer/clearcoat may crack around the front plate bolt holes. It doesn't seem to affect performance, but can be unnerving when it is first noticed.

WHAT good does wrapping an aluminum stem in carbon fiber do??? Get a Thompson, Deda, Synapse, or Syncros.

Just aesthetics at this point. It's not better or worse than the all-aluminum counterparts in terms of performance.

I have the Pro and I like it fine. It was low cost, and it looks good on my bike. I evaluated the 3T and the Ritchie, and I found the Pro in the size I wanted for a lower cost, so I got it. Never looked back.

Why aren't more people pointing out that 10mm less stem is not enough to make a significant difference?

I only change stems for 3 reasons:

- 20mm or greater length change
- more than 5 degree change (5/6/7 irrelevant, but one of those compared to 12-14 degrees is meaningful change)
- cosmetics

So, yeah. Get the prettiest one.
