Roubaix Elite SL2 Apex Compact VS Roubaix Comp Compact ?
Im trading up from an three year old aluminum allez. I would like to get a carbon and want some input before I shell out. For me 2 grand is alot. I weigh bout 220 and am losing weight every week. ride mostly on flat roads. I am also a young 42 yo. lol. I dont ride centuries but I probably will do some 50 milers at some point. I currently ride about twenty miles three or four times a week due to my work schedule. and avg 16-18 mph. I want to go faster as well as get a nicer bike. I dont think I need a 3 grand bike but would like some input. I really like the specialized lines and most likely will stick to them. anyone have any input that can help me here...by the way I am new to this forum as of today and love all the info I have read so far!

I'm not sure that you'll find a Roubaix any faster than an Allez, particularly on flat roads where the weight difference between a lower end Allez and a higher end Roubaix won't be as apparent as it is climbing. The Allez actually has a bit more of an aggressive position.

I ended up trading my allez for a slightly used 1yo roubaix w 105 components. It is definitely lighter and much smoother! There is very little climbing in southeat texas so i wouldnt know about the climbing but as for bumpy roads, i love it! Speedwise i dont think there is much of a difference so i guess i may just have to work harder...lol
