anyone have an old messenger bag to sell to a working college kid?
hey everyone- this is a humble plea for ex-messengers and the like- does anyone have an old messenger bag (big, durable, NON-timbuk2) that they're willing to sell to a working kid trying to bike his way through college? i'd buy a new one myself, but all the "name brands" are 150 new...can't afford that- help me out PLEASE! thanks in advance-

$9.95 shipping and handling is way to much. That overcharging on shipping and handling. Though if the item stays at $0.01 then its a good price. I think it will be at least $10 to $15 when done. By the time that happens you could maybe get one locally for around the same price.

gee, i replied to this post on another thread, but MAELSTROM erased it. thanks, buddy.
allright, in a nutshell:
a guy i know wants to sell me a bag that i have lusted after for some time. i HAVE a new (used for a few weeks) bag that I won in a race. it is big, durable, and non TB2. so, how much are you willing to spend? i'd look for about $50 to offset my costs.

TTN,
That MP bag msngr's selling doesn't sound like too bad a deal - I did a lot of searching around town the last few weeks for one, and couldn't find many bags that were big and durable enough for under 50 bucks. A lot of cheapo bags out there that look like the bottom falls out after some wear & tear. The cheapest big MP bag was over 65 bucks, and I think that one was even smaller. Maybe you chould look into it.
oh, I also wondered this when I read your CL ad...why "non-timbuk2" ?

msngr-
thanks for the info, please check your PMs
ch0mb0 - thanks for the advise, the reason i dont want a timbuk2 is because i was using one until the buckle broke on me after a few months of working in the city. i just dont really trust any plastic buckles anymore, they seem to sketchy to me. sorry all you timbuk2 fans

Themthatsnot: I have a sewing machine, I'd be happy to sew you a bag with love in every stitch.
How much are you willing to spend? What fabric do you want? Do you need it to be waterproof? How large of a strap do you want? Do you want cushioning on any part?
I have a TON of dark denim that I could use for cheap.
Do you want zippers or Velcro?

I got my road bike for free--thanks to the awesome people of Craigslist!
Try thrift stores for the messenger bag. Sometimes they have one.

Random dumb newbie question:
Why messenger bags? I'd think a backpack would be more aerodynamic and comfortable. Or am I missing something fundamental?
