How do I ease back into training?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How do I ease back into training?

I seem to finally be getting over my cycling knee/quad injury, but now comes the hard part. I want to ride so much!

My orthopedic surgeon considers 20 miles to be "high mileage". I consider 300 miles high.

Anyway, I'm thinking that for the next month, maybe I'll limit myself to riding no more than 4 times a week, and no more than 50 miles total for the week? I really don't know what too much stress is going to be at this point, and obviously I'll back off if I feel any pain, but often times it's no pain then BAM! a bunch of it.

Any advice? Thanks!

Don't go into the large chain ring, at all! Work on spinning circles. And make sure that your seat height is correct.

I have had to ease back into cycling a few years and and will need to do it again because I am off the bike for medical reasons. I started doing short slow of eight to ten miles and then went up from there.
