Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Carbon Handlebar:Flat Top and Compact?

I want to upgrade my handlebars. Who out there offers a flat top and a compact drop besides the FSA K-Wing? I like the FSA just not the color scheme of it. The 3T ERGONOVA LTD looks very nice but is pricey. So any flat top carbon compacts out there that aren't red?

Ergonova Pro 3T's in aluminum are well under $100. They are compact drops and flatish tops. I'm not sure I'd consider carbon an upgrade on bars. The best bars are the ones that feel the best.

I think Zipp just released the VukaSprints. A couple people here are considering them. Stay tuned.

I have the VukaSprint bars attached to a Zipp SL145 stem. I like them a lot. The internal cable routing is very trick and the bars are reasonably stiff and light. Probably the toughest thing was figuring out how to wrap them. They are aesthetically very appealing and it is hard to want to wrap much beyond the hoods.

I'll try and link a picture when I have time.

OP you do not need the 3T Ergonova LTD, the Team model is carbon and plenty light.

However I went cheap and I have the aluminum Ergonova Pro. I love it, but have one observation: the bar tops seem a bit narrow for the rated size. Mine is 42cm and the only place it is as wide as most other 42cm bars I've had is where the drops flare outward (slightly).

I wear size XL gloves and don't have as much room on top as I normally do. I would probably go with 1 size bigger next time.

But it's red...that's the same problem with the FSA K-Wing. My bike is black and blue. Its had to find parts that go with blue.
