Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How Killer Of A Deal Is This, Really?

https://www.competitivecyclist.com/za...RODUCT.ID=8902

I'm trying to convince my room mate to bite the bullet. He says it doesn't sound like a good enough deal. He gets on my RoadRacer and turns giddy like a little girl. Either I or his girlfriend are willing to front the money and he still won't do it. To me it looks like the deal of the century and he has been wanting a road bike badly for a few months.

What do you think? Awesome deal? too good to pass up? or not that great?

His car is completely dead. Says he needs a new car first.

**** the car, he hasn't had one all summer, now it's going to be cooler, why get one now?

Awesome deal for a 105 bike. Would've loved to run into that deal for my first bike.

Have your roommate to compare it to this and decide if the BMC is worth $200 more than the BD:

Wow, no sense of humour.

It's your money to spend how you want!

Killer deal. The deals at CC on the rest of the BMC line are also outstanding.

Bikes: Bianchi Veloce

Check out this one too. About $150 more, but full CF frame if it is the right size. Also has 5700 105.

Exactly what wheels does that BMC have on it? It says 'A-Class SR20 wheels', but I can't find much on them online. Anyone familiar?

I'd pay $200 to get away from the FSA crank and paired spoke wheels. And 'on the path' is right, that is a bad looking frame on the BD bike.

lending friends that kind of money rarely turns out well, but it's your money and if you want him off your ride, get him to go for it.

It's an Alex off-shoot. My wife has them on her bike. They're fine, but for riding in AZ (with its sub-par roads) I would get a set of Open Pros with Ultagra or 105 hubs stat.

$150 more and it gets you Tektro brakes, Gossamer crank, alx wheels, ugh, even some 5600 parts on there. Garbage.

I don't mean to knit pick, but the CC bike does have 'A-Class SR20 Wheelset' which sounds like Alex wheels to me and 'Scor Brake Calipers' which sounds like re-branded tektro or worse.

But I agree with not wanting the gossamer crank.

Also, the shifters are actually 5700. The cables are all under the tape.

Holy smokes! If I didn't already have a CAAD9, I would jump on that almost as quickly as I'd jump on a naked supermodel...
