wifey's Boyd 30mm Rouleur arrived!
UPS gave them some extra love in shipping, but they are fine. The UPS guy had the nerve to complain that there was no styrofoam inside the wheel box... yeah, dude, that excuses the partially crushed box.
My wife's bike is a 2011 Specialized Dolce Elite Apex that came with Mavic CXP22 rims laced to cheapo Formula hubs. Installing the Boyd wheels and changing nothing else dropped 1.5 pounds. Before: 20.5, after 19.0 pounds.
Boyd's hubs are awesome. They outroll the hell out of my Mavic Ksyrium Elite (2011 model) using my finely-calibrated right hand while on a workstand.
No, really, it is obvious that a bearing is better when it slows and rolls the opposite direction you spun in order to put the highest weight of the wheel/tire pointing down.
The balance is superb as well. I cranked the pedals a bit in 50/11 and got the rear wheel really going and there is no wobble or hop at all.
First ride coming up... Thursday-ish. Might be able to swing pics as well. Of the bike, no promises about putting wifey on BF.

Rode to dinner and back this evening. Like I said, the wheels look great on her bike.
Yes, I know about the pedals. But could you cycle in those shoes?

Thanks guys! A year ago she wasn't the least bit interested in a road bike, but she came around. Did a half metric century on her hybrid and she was sold on a Dolce.

The color-matched Specialized Riva saddle her bike came with was fine around the neighborhood, but gave her sitbone pain after 20 miles.

She normally wears Keen sandals. They make a SPD version of them, which might well be her first clip-ins next year. Just taking it one step at a time, though...
