A question of genetics?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Guess what? Australian aborigines have a body type that is ideally suited to the Australian outback. This is an example of "genetic biodiversity", and I didn't learn about it from Mein Kampf, I saw it on PBS. Get off the soapbox, pops. Any relevance you might have had at one time to this thread is gone, and you're just trying to troll everyone into the P&R forum.

What are you talking about?

I thought this thread was about physiological diversity and athletic ability

If this means that you believe that the referenced, scientific data in those articles is false, then that is very irrational, and you shouldn't be on this thread.

Actually, we prefer to call him 531.

Alanbikehouston, ever heard of Darwin? While race may be a social construct, there are still societies of people that have evolved in one geographic region over the past few thousand years. For that reason, those people may have adapted special physical features and attributes that help them excel in certain sports. Your argument about humans all belonging to one race, fails to take into account that human beings from different parts of the world have evolved differently. While our genes may be 99.8% the same, people share different skills and attributes. Humans also share 98% of our genes with chimpanzees, but that doesn't make us the same.

You seem to have a problem with our culture and you're preaching about it in a bike forum. Everyone on this thread, I would venture, was taught in school about different races of people. They still ask you your race on standardized tests, insurance forms, etc. The concept of multiple races is ingrained in our culture. Now, I'm not arguing whether that's right, quite the contrary, I just believe arguing about the fallacy of our social constructs in a bike forum is fruitless.

Dang, you've done it now, you've bought Maoist values into this. Haven't the Chinese done a bit of "ethnic cleansing" in their time, too?

What's wrong with being superior anyway? It seems that only the people that aren't superior are the ones offended, looking to be treated as equals. If you were superior like me, then you would be equal. If not, then I choose to profile you as weak. In any other animal society the weak are left behind as fodder for predators. I think it's a good idea to find out what groups are weak genetically, and single them out.

(shhhhhh, you think that's gonna pi$$ him off??)

Might as well say it cause that's what you're accusing us of saying after all. Yep, Alanbike, you've succeeded. I can no longer deny my neo-nazism tendencies. Might as well go on a genocidal rampage now, because evidently that's what we all do. Instead of respecting people for their differences and the heightened abilities that I don't have, I'll just be offended and scream racism.

I didn't say they grew wings. The length and thickness of legs, trunk, etc. That stuff doesn't take 10,000 years to sort out.Australia also has the highest incidence rate of skin cancer of any country. Funny thing is, it's white people who're getting it. Ya' think that might be why aborigines have dark skin,to protect themselves from the desert sun, or have they not had enough time to develop this trait they already have?

Hmmmmm, I'm pretty sure the Aborigines have been here for at
least 40 or 50 thousand years (some say more than 70,000), not 10,000 -- but I wasn't there

Correct. Confirmed human presence in Australia at least 50 000 years ago.
Possibly longer.

At one stage I thought due to my obvious superior genetic makeup, that I would stop reading and replying to dumb threads that should've died a natural death days ago.

Yet here I am.

Grrr.....dumb parents.

I'd be r-e-e-e-e-a-a-a-l-l-l careful if I were you Tiger... you know what happened to Aborigines AND thylacines down here (and no, I cannot lay claim anyone in my parentage who was responsible in any way for killing off either group -- all mine were benign forgers of invitations to King's parties and dope merchants)

Proof that it doesn't matter how fast you can run if the other guy has a big gun.

Yeah, shame on you Australians for treating the indigenous people badly. Is there an "irony" emoticon?
