Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you click English then frame size then frame size again then enter your inseam. (You can use a fake email address.) Does it correspond to what you like for a size?

Not for me. Maybe for modern frames, which seem to be much smaller than the ones I grew up with in the 1980s. This site suggests a frame fully four cm. smaller than the ones I raced on, based on the Renault/Gitane/Guimard/LeMond formula.

Inseam isn't a very useful measurement to judge the size of a bicycle by. Personally, the top tube measurement is more important. Get it right first, then look at the height of the bicycle.

Probably coincidence, but it seems right on the money for me for a bike with a horizontal top tube. Of course today most bikes have a slanted top tube, so this might be more applicable to the 1990s and earlier.
