I do. It's not so much crashing that I'm worried about, but my last smart phone got moisture underneath the screen and generally started acting strange after I took it on a lot of rides. I don't like the baggy thing, so I just throw my sim card into my $50 phone (I could have gone cheaper, but I wanted a hardware qwerty keyboard) for rides.

Take my car, my tv, and my cell phone and I think you will have taken my very will to live away.
Of course I carry my cell phone - it is a nice insurance policy and while I didn't carry 1 when I was young, I didn't know I needed 1 - but now that the providers have convinced me I am so indespensible I carry it all the time. I use a neoprene belt that fits securely and water proof, it holds a phone, cash/CC, and ID - all I need to be covered.

While I didn't originally having recently done any upgrade, I now use a Blackberry as a back up to the HTC I replaced it with. No sense in getting the screen issues and if i crush it, then I can only hope that someone else on the ride brought one, because I'm sure I'd need an ambulance if the fall was sufficient to do that amount of damage.

Nope. I have a nexus s worth £430 so I don't cycle with it. Got a cheapo mobile that I stick in my jersey pocket when cycling, wrapped in a plastic bag.

That's great Fredly, like back in the Day when I flatted twice and literally had to WALK 3+ miles (including up a VERY steep access road up the Palisades in NJ) to get to a pay phone to call a cab. Thank God for cell phones.

Well now if you had been prepared like me you could have changed and or repaired the tube. Stick around, I may have something else to teach you. " Literally had to walk 3 miles" . You crack me up.

I find it funny how many people here call their phone "iphone 4s" or "samsung galaxy s2".
As if anyone cares what exact type of iphone or anything like that you have ... it almost sounds like little kids bragging about their bikes ... haha

I call mine a "Phone" because that's actually an upgrade from "LG Eve".

Yeah, i used to feel that way until work required constant email/web/calendar/file etc access and high mobility w/o having to constantly open a laptop. It is a tool even if it is most often used as an "image toy" as well...
