I decided to HTFU down

maybe it's just because I'm sick right now but I've lost the desire to go outside and ride in this dreary arse weather. I'd rather sit on a trainer for 2 hours in front of my t.v. and dream about the spring. plus the fact that I can't ride in the evenings anymore due to lighting (I don't see well at night). I think it's time I HTFU down

FactVord 11-29-11 10:02 AM

Do I dare to say u/r/weak? I joke.
I missed my first 500mi/month last month. I cannot repeat it again this month (3 days to make up 250 mi). Crunch time!

DropDeadFred 11-29-11 10:07 AM

I'm still going to ride...hell, i live in GA so the winters are mild...problem is when it gets clear here the winds are 25-30mph. I'm probably just feeling this mostly because I can only halfway breathe out of one nostril and have lost my appetite completely (might be a good thing)

2ndGen 11-29-11 10:11 AM

-----> A little early for Cabin Fever, but...

FactVord 11-29-11 10:14 AM

Consider being only able to breathe on 25% of normal capacity a challenge, or handicap if you will. Let's see if you can break 40 miles in 2 hours in your current state!
Last time I was sick, I barely broke 12mph for 2.5 hours. I was feeling really crappy.

DropDeadFred 11-29-11 10:23 AM

I rode earlier this year sick and posted about it, I, at one point, got so congested I couldn't breathe at all which almost turned into a panick attack because my heart rate was so high at that point. I thought I was going to pass out. Had to slow and, clear all passages....

oh and I guess it would be HTFD...

You are such a troublemaker, aren't you?

ColinL 11-29-11 10:58 AM

Can you drive a car at night?

If so, you could just get decent lights for your bike and helmet and ride at night without issue.

patentcad 11-29-11 11:02 AM

I rode my TT bike 30 miles this AM in the balmy 55ºF NY rain. I liked it.

I am in Ga as well. Albany area. You close?

I also see you are a Dawgs fan. Helluva season aye? You excited for Saturday, or desperately afraid?

Terry66 11-29-11 11:11 AM

I'll so trade you Ohio winters for windy, wet Georgia winters.

Two of the local LBSs have started indoor training sessions in the evening. A big giant room, everyone brings the trainers in and you do a 20-30 person group ride with a video or movie.. Not like being out, but beats pedaling at home talking to the dog.

I am a fair weather rider. Say I need to htfu...thats ok, it won't change my mind. I ride because I enjoy it. Riding in the rain even with the right gear just isnt fun for me. For some it might be fine but id rather stay in my garage and ride on my rollers.

idc 11-29-11 11:27 AM

I'm looking forward to riding home in the rain this afternoon on my MTB commuter. I find it refreshing, and it reminds me of something you might do as a kid. I wouldn't ride my road bike in this though.

Shimagnolo 11-29-11 11:32 AM

Wimps.
Last night I didn't get to start my 30-mile ride until 715pm due to &($*@#!!! work interfering.

As long as it isnt too cold, I enjoy riding in the rain. I have a steel Vaya with fenders and if I have a ride scheduled I ride rain or shine

LOGICK ONE 11-29-11 12:57 PM

I need to get some base layers and ride in this dreary SoCal 50 degree weather.

Right Said Fred 11-29-11 01:37 PM

Just because you are indoors on the trainer doesn't mean you can't HTFU. Just dial up the resistance!

thump55 11-29-11 02:11 PM

Here in Wisconsin, we have seen our last 40 degree day. I'll get out for one last outdoor ride on Saturday and then I'll be shut'n it down and riding trainer only until ice-out in April.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not... do they really make these for bicycles. I remember buying a set for my 2001 Miata and going skidding all over New Jersey in the slush and snow and having a blast that winter. And then I looked at your nick. LoL
