Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help buying a new budget rear wheel

RIP TO MY OLD ONE

what do you guys recommend? I have a Giant Defy 3. I'm not looking for nothing, fancy, just something as good as my stock wheels.

in the $100 and below category

For $100 your LBS should have something simple in stock. Probably made by Sta Tru.

Forte Titans are well liked for a budget wheel. I would get it over the Vuelta or any other paired spoke wheel.

if you can stretch to about $150 you could get a complete set of the mavic aksiums on bonktown. They seem to be coming up there some for $134 plus the shipping costs. But, that would be stretching your budget a bit, so.....

I got Vuelta on my single speed Trek and they are still true after riding whole year on Boston broken pavements.
They are not the lightest but love the hubs. They spin and spin effortlessly.I have not tried Forte Titans and users seem to like them.
