Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Received my new torture device.

Received my new torture device today and I can already tell that I am not going to get along with it. After a 10 mile intermediate course I had a pool under my bike. I forgot how good of a workout I got when I had my first one of these. This is going to be a long Winter.

Oh, excuse the mess. I'm in the process of redoing the room.

It's too bad they cannot hook up a electric fan to cool folks off when they are using trainers. Wicking action should never be underestimated.

Computrainer gets it's own room with a couple computer screens and a tv to watch during the torture sessions. I still have my rollers and will probably use them on recovery days.

Not sure. This is my second one. I sold my first one a couple of years ago after I was told my riding days were over. I hated that one too.

That was my ZX6R a few years back. I never use that computer so haven't changed the desktop. After, that I had a ZX14. After that I had an MV Agusta F4 1000R.

nice. I always loved the MV as for appearance. never rode one though so I dont know about how they handled. Never cared for the kawi much. didn't like how I fit the bike. I was a suzuki guy. raced 600cc class here in Portland but was never a contendor, just did it for fun. I miss the riding but will most likely never get another one unless i happen to win the lottery. Considering I never play the lottery, I am left with the notion that the idea of winning is out After having my daughter I got out of motorcycles and got into cycling which I THOUGHT was going to be a much cheaper hobby. Boy was I wrong!

A big fan for cooling makes a world of difference for me on the trainer. Without one I overheat quickly and my power output drops very noticably -- which makes it impossible to do properly targeted power range workouts.

I have a fan right in front of my bike, moved it for the picture.

Our Sunday no-drop ride was cancelled yesterday so one of my buddies called me up and asked me if I wanted to go on a mountain bike ride with him.

I have 7k miles on my road bikes this year and maybe 50 on my mtb.

Talk about a torture device! I was drenched in sweat in 15 minutes into our 2 hour ride.

We did do a lot of climbing but I think I may start riding my mtb once or twice a week for cross-training.

Congrats on the computrainer, hope it helps you reach your goals.

The messed up part is that on Slowtwitch.com, MANY people have multiple Computrainers. And powermeters. And race wheels. They talk about it like everyone's supposed to have it as well. WTF.

Nice, love my CompuTrainer. Love how I can create my own courses. I have taken Garmin data and created files to mimic them. Even some courses I have done in a race. Absolutely awesome! You want a workout, do the Morgul!

I know what you mean, those people make me feel like a slacker. All I have is two powertaps, one quarq, and one computrainer.

Doesn't surprise me. I know of more than one Ironman distance triathlete that does essentially all their cycling training on Computrainers. Basically the only time they go outdoors is to race. Would take all the fun out of it for me. But don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have a Computrainer!
