Amateur Victory Celebrations?
What do you all think? Appropriate for a Cat 4 to raise his hands at the line, or overkill for an amateur race?

Throw the stick!!!!
I see no problem with someone being excited that they won no matter what level. However, if the winner causes a crash while celebrating then he should be stripped his victory.

Um...Don't sit up and raise both arms but I can see a fist pump. You won something, celebrate it...but try not to fall over and take out the field.

This is appropriate in all aspects of life. I celebrated when I beat a pregnant lady with two kids to the checkout counter in Target last week.

I am of the thought that professionalism should grow with your ascension through the ranks so dropping chamois and giving the losers a waggle is for sure cat5 territory. Even at this level a true winner makes his opponents pump their fists as a tribute to his holding the upper hand in competition.

in many competitive jurisdictions you'll get a dq if you take your hands off the bars in a field sprint. probably get away with it if you solo in. my favourite is keeping your hands on the bars and looking back over your shoulder at all the crushed souls.

Throw the stick!!!!
Come to think of it, of all the races I have won I don't believe I have ever had the energy to do a celebration salute. If I would have tried I would have probably crashed or just fell over.

I've seen two races in the past year when some guy goes for the big victory salute - and gets overtaken *just* on the line.
- might be against rules
- might be dangerous
- might look like the biggest wanker on earth when you time it wrong and come second
