Velocity Razor, good match to Open Pro?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Velocity Razor, good match to Open Pro?

I just bought a rear wheel, a campy hub laced to a silver Mavic Open Pro. I also just won a 28 hole campy hub on ebay and am wanting to build it up to match the rear. Now my question is, how well does the Velocity Razor compare to the OP? They look pretty damn similar. I've tried looking for a Reflex SUP, but I just cant seem to find any for a decent price.

I have a pair of the 28h. I mainly got them for cosmetic reasons as I wanted something with a classic look to run on my Waterford. They don't get a lot of use, maybe 3000 miles in 3 years, but they have held up well. I had to re-true the front once after a 25mph crash into a ditch but I would have expected that. They actually survived a second crash into a car that cut me off but I did manage to slow to 10mph or so before glancing off the side. And yeah, I do have all the bad luck with the fancy bike.

they're almost exactly the same.

the only difference is quality and the eyelets.
open pro uses a double, while velocity razor is single.

technically, the open pro joint is welded and milled, while the razor is sleeved and glued (it might have changed, so don't take my word on that) and the burr cleaning from the holes is better on the mavic.

IMO, it will take a sharp eye to spot the difference once you peal the stickers off.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

Maybe I can find some open pro decals on ebay and fool even more people. Ha.

the razors are what's on my training wheelset. For training, I'd think they are better as Open Pros at 435g/rim are on the "fragile side" while the razors are 475g/rim.

it's available with or without machined surface. pretty sure that mine is without

I'm more looking for something to compliment an OP, not beat.

actually, the velocity razors are heavier with NO benefit in strength whatsoever.

And why would that be?

It's going on the front anyways.

apparently they've had problems with them on the rear. It's not known to be a particularly strong or stiff rim. I have one on the front, it seems like an ok rim.
